Job Applications

Wow, what a busy few weeks it has been! Over the past few weeks I've been filling out job applications for my placement year, as many of the deadlines are the end of January. I wish I had started the applications sooner though; the majority of them are really long and take ages to fill out. I don’t think I've ever had to answer the question “so why do you want to work for ____” so many times. A few of the companies that I've applied to have had quite short forms, which are always nice to complete.

Because there are lots of people applying for the positions, there are lots of processes to go through in order to actually get the place, like all jobs really. There is the application form, then some companies ask you to complete an online test, and if you complete that there is an interview and maybe some other tests to complete, it’s just so annoying!

But apart from all the job applications, things have been plodding along as usual. I have gained yet another free drink at Starbucks, and it seems as though I gained that one rather quickly, but I’m not going to complain, who doesn't like free things?

At least February is a short month, with only 28 days in it, and right in the middle of it is Valentines Day… Those of you who have a partner, I hope you have a lovely day, but for people who are single, it is one of those days that reminds you of your singleness, forever alone as that one internet meme goes. Of course we all know we won’t be forever alone, but I’m sure it feels like that at times. There is an upside to not having a valentine though; it means you don’t have to buy an expensive present (I got an email reminding me to buy an iPad for my loved one, who would do that?) and you don’t eat lots of chocolate.

Until next time, have a good week everyone!

Happy January Everyone!

Happy January everyone, hope you all had a nice rest over the Christmas break, and entered 2013 positively. I don’t know if it was me, but those 3 weeks we had off seemed to fly by really quickly, and here we are again in the first week of the second term. At least this term isn't as long as the last one, that seemed to go on for an eternity! I’m so glad that I didn't have any work to do over the break, I don’t know if you remember, but I had eight assignments due in last term, and by the end of it I had lost the will to live.

Speaking of 2013, how many of you have already broken your new years resolutions? If you had made any to begin with that is. I figured that seeing as I can never stick to a resolution for the entire year, there was no point in having one. I thought about cutting down on coffee, and then I realised how much of a silly idea that would have been and quickly dismissed the idea. I mean today I made two trips to Starbucks to get my fix.

I did however think it would be an idea to try and not spend as much money this year, and maybe try to save, as I always seem to run out of money.  The reason as to why I always run out of money probably has something to do with the fact I seem to have expensive taste… for example, when the majority of my flatmates are buying own branded products from the supermarket and going to places such as Lidl and Aldi, I am buying all the branded items from Sainsbury’s. This is why I need to either marry into money, or find a well-paid job.

I wish you all the best for the new term, and hope you’re all settling back in, until next time…
